My situation is that my university offers free courses for graduate students. There are three options: a swimming course, a time-management course, and a public speaking course.

Among the three options, I think a public speaking course is the best choice because of some reasons. The first reason is that it helps me build confidence when speaking in front of people. For example, I can present my ideas clearly during meetings or interviews. The second reason is that it improves my communication skills. For instance, I can connect better with classmates and colleagues. Finally, it is useful for my future career. To be specific, most jobs require good presentation and speaking skills.

I don’t think that a swimming course is suitable because it is more about physical activity than academic improvement. For instance, I can learn swimming anytime by myself outside the university.

Although a time-management course is a good idea, I don’t choose it. Simply because I already know how to organize my schedule. To illustrate, I usually plan my study time effectively using my phone calendar.

To sum up, if I were in the case, I would choose a public speaking course for the reasons I have mentioned.
